FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We have the Answers!

What does the pre-purchase inspection cover?

Our onsite visual inspection covers all aspects of the car including paint and panel condition, structural rust and damage, the complete engine and drivetrain, and a full interior assessment. Also included in the inspection is a road test, a full set of photos, and you get to directly speak with the inspection officer one on one. The inspection is conducted onsite at the Seller's premises, without prejudice or judgement.

How long does it take for my pre-purchase inspection to be done?

Each inspection takes approximately 120 minutes to complete. The report and photos are then emailed, faxed, or posted immediately after completion. We aim to complete the inspection within 48 hours of your booking, however if the seller is not available until a later date we will notify you.

Can I speak to the inspection officer?

Yes, your inspection officer will leave his name and contact number on the report. Once you've read the report and viewed the photos, we advise that you make a list of any items you would like to discuss or clarify further.

Does the pre-purchase inspection report represent a roadworthy certificate?

No. As roadworthy laws and requirements vary from state to state, we recommend that you seek further advice from your state motor registry office and/or contact your local tester to determine requirements.

Can VIP Automotive Solutions verify or authenticate a car?

No. VIP Automotive Solutions does not verify or authenticate vehicles as being genuine, whether they are, or are not. We are happy to collect all the relevant information from the compliance plates, body stamping, and engine numbers in the report. You as the buyer will need to research and perform your own due diligence regarding the car's authenticity.

How does the secure handover work?

Basically, we get you to raise a bank cheque for the agreed purchase price made out in the Seller’s name. You then send this bank cheque by Express Post directly to our inspection officer. We will draw up a Bill of Sale with all of the relevant details - and send this to our inspection officer in the meantime. Once the inspection officer receives both the bank cheque and paperwork, the handover can take place. Our inspection officer will check that the car is 'as inspected' (or if we have not inspected the car, he will check that the car is free of obvious damage and that the identifiers match the Bill of Sale). He will also sight the seller's driver’s license and ownership paperwork. Once we are satisfied that all is in order, only then do we handover the bank cheque. A car transporter is then arranged to collect the vehicle.

How does the door to door transport service work?

Your car will be picked up from the collection address as quoted, and be returned to the nearest depot. The car will then be consolidated onto a load for transport interstate. Once the car arrives at the receiving depot, it is unloaded and ready to be dropped off at the delivery address as quoted.

How will my car travel whilst in transit?

If you have booked it as a STANDARD service (must have a ground clearance of 125mm or greater), then your vehicle will be collected by tilt tray and taken back to the depot. From here, it will be manifested onto the next available load either in an open truck (may have curtained sides) or in an enclosed car-tainer by rail. Once it arrives at the depot interstate, you can expect to receive a call to arrange a suitable time for your vehicle to be delivered, or to collect it if you opted for a depot services only. VIP Automotive Solutions will keep you updated every few days by either text, email or phone as to your vehicle’s progress whilst in transit.

If you booked your vehicle in as a FULLY ENCLOSED service, then your vehicle will travel in an enclosed transporter between depots. Uplift and delivery is usually in an enclosed transporter, however in some states we only have open tilt trays for collection and delivery.

Is my car covered by damage insurance whilst in transit?

If your vehicle is a non-runner, then no insurance/warranty cover applies. If your vehicle is a running vehicle (with brakes and steering) then our standard insurance/warranty cover is up to $60,000 as standard. For fully enclosed services, the standard insurance/warranty is $100,000. We recommend that you read the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS – Hyperlink here) which highlights the details of damage insurance/warranty cover. We also recommend that you consider independent insurance cover with reputable classic car insurers such as Shannons.
